House Republican Leader Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster) today commended the Independent Regulatory Review Commission (IRRC) for its completion of a two-year review of existing regulations. This review, initiated by House Republicans and various standing committees in 2022, identified numerous regulations that are no longer in the public interest.
"Pennsylvania’s administrative state has hindered our economic growth, impeded our ability to govern ourselves and confused the public," Cutler stated. "Streamlining government and reducing the size and scope of our administrative state has long been, and continues to be, a focus of House Republicans. The report and orders issued by IRRC today are another successful step in holding government accountable to itself and, most importantly, the people of Pennsylvania."
The IRRC's report, released on Wednesday, highlighted that many regulations were outdated due to agencies' failure to update them based on state or federal statutory changes, changes to other regulations, or technological advancements.
"Today’s report and subsequent orders show numerous regulations are no longer in the public interest," Cutler added. "I encourage those agencies subject to today’s report to immediately begin the process of repealing or updating regulations to conform with the public interest."
