Pequea Elementary School issued the following announcement on Sept. 10.
As all of you know, breakfasts and lunches are free this year. This is an extension of the United States Department of Agriculture’s response to COVID and family needs. Although this is amazing for all of our students to be able to take advantage of healthy and free meals, it has also reduced the completion of the free and reduced meals application. The task of signing up for free and reduced meals actually helps our school for various funding sources. For example, some of the staff and materials associated with Pequea are paid for out of these qualifying dollars.
As a family who qualifies for FREE or REDUCED lunch, you are eligible for discount services such as reduced internet through COMCAST. I am inviting you to take a look at the income eligibility document at the bottom of this post. I have also made arrangements for Mrs. Joy Meley, our school social worker, to be present and available at Pequea on Thursday, September 16th from 12:00 – 3:00 PM and Friday, September 17th from 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM to assist with completion of the form. You just have to show up to school.
You are welcome to complete the form on your own. Please follow this LINK.
It’s important that we have families apply before September 30, 2021 to maintain our Title 1 status for the 2022-2023 school year. Please contact Dr. Murray or Mrs. Semple if you have additional questions or need further assistance.
