Rep. Bryan Cutler of Lancaster has expressed his disappointment following the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's (FERC) decision to grant a preliminary permit for the proposed hydroelectric pumped storage facility at Cuffs Run. The project, initiated by York Energy Storage, LLC, has been met with opposition from local stakeholders and legislators.

Cutler stated, "The decision by FERC today to grant a preliminary permit to the planned hydroelectric facility at Cuffs Run is disappointing. As I said when this project was announced, while I am in complete support of energy production it is clear the YES Waterpower Project at Cuffs Run will have a detrimental impact on the area."

He emphasized that community members and stakeholders believe the project would bring more harm than benefits. Cutler noted that over $100 million has already been invested in preserving Cuffs Run for its scenic value and tourism potential. He warned that the project could destroy preserved farms, disrupt a regional scenic trail, affect views from a popular multimodal rail trail, and damage forested lands crucial for ecological health.

Cutler affirmed his commitment to opposing the plan: "I will continue to support our communities around Cuffs Run by opposing this plan and working with stakeholders and fellow legislators to stop this project. Our combined voices will continue to be needed as this process continues."
