Senators Scott Martin and Joe Picozzi have acknowledged Catholic Schools Week in Pennsylvania with remarks on the Senate Floor and by inviting a special guest chaplain. They sponsored a resolution recognizing Catholic Schools Week from January 26 through February 1, highlighting the education of around 100,000 students enrolled in Catholic schools across the state.

Both senators are alumni of Catholic schools; Martin graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School in Lancaster, while Picozzi graduated from Holy Ghost Preparatory School in Bensalem. Martin stated, "As a proud alum of Lancaster Catholic, I was fortunate to get a quality education in a welcoming environment that instilled strong values and character."

Picozzi added, "Catholic schools are the bedrock of our community in Northeast Philly. In my home, we ask, ‘what parish are you from? Where did you go to grade school?’ We proudly boast 15 catholic schools in the 5th Senatorial District."

The Senate session also featured Most Reverend Timothy Senior as guest chaplain. Bishop Senior was appointed Bishop of Harrisburg by Pope Francis in 2023.
