Bart-Colerain Elementary School issued the following announcement on Jan. 14.
On Saturday, January 8th, four Solanco High School singers participated in the 2022 LLMEA County Chorus Festival at Annville-Cleona High School. The festival was the first LLMEA event since the early winter of 2020. This year, students were chosen for the ensemble based on their audition for the PMEA District 7 Chorus Festival and a round-robin process. Precautions were taken to reduce the spread of COVID-19, but students were still able to enjoy a full day with the guest conductor, Dr. Joy Meade from Messiah College and culminating concert. Solanco singers who participated were (from left to right) Sawyer Weyman – Tenor 1 and percussionist, Lilia McHugh – Soprano 2, Cassandra Wright – Soprano 2, and Aden Jackson – Bass 1.
In addition, Cassandra Wright’s successful audition earned her a spot in the 2022 PMEA District 7 Festival that will be held at Chambersburg Area High School on February 11th-12th. At that festival, Cassandra will work with about 150 singers from 8 central Pennsylvania counties and guest conductor Dr. Brandon Williams from Rutgers University. She will also audition for the PMEA Region 5 festival.
