Penn Manor High School issued the following announcement.
Penn Manor Productions will be presenting a unique online viewing experience this weekend with the premiere of Class Action, a series of plays by Brad Slaight.
The free, online production will be available for viewing Friday, Saturday and Sunday, January 8, 9 and 10, at this link. Viewers will need to enter an email address and receive a link to view the show.
Class Action is a series of short scenes about life as a teenager taken from three scripts by Slaight – Class Action, Second Class and Third Class – presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French Inc.
Some of the scenes deal with typical high school topics, such as dating, dream cars, detention and school pictures. Other topics are more serious, including bullying, suicide, adoption, divorce and death.
Viewers will be notified of the upcoming content of “serious” scenes, and links to resources for students and parents on these topics will be provided.
Here is the play program, which includes more details.
Students were heavily involved in every aspect of the production. They decided which scenes to include, as well as which roles they wanted to play. They did their own filming, with masks while socially distant or outdoors. Close friends were cast together since they were already in each other’s “bubbles.”
Rehearsals were held via Google Meet, and every student who wanted a role got one.
“Our goal was always to keep students safe and follow protocols,” said Melissa Mintzer, assistant director for Penn Manor Productions.
Viewers will be permitted to watch the show any time during the three-day window that Class Action is “live.” Viewers may watch the performance from 12 a.m. Friday until 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
Please enjoy the show!
