Bart-Colerain Elementary School issued the following announcement on Mar. 9.
Over the past month, students at the 5th grade level across the Solanco School District competed in the 2022 MathCON competition. MathCON is an online mathematics competition that asks students to put their math skills to the test, competing in a grade level contest against math students around the country. The competition is separated into two parts. The first round is an online test, comprised of multiple-choice questions that require students to take the knowledge they have gathered from their current grade’s mathematics class and apply it to problems using their own ingenuity and insight. Participating in the national finals is available to the students who qualify as the top finishers in the country based on the scores of first round’s test. Those students will complete a final assessment against the top math students in their grade from around the country in late April.
For the fourth year in a row, a student at the elementary level has been named an alternate for the national finals. Jameson Humphreys (5th grade, Bart-Colerain Elementary School) scored 208 out of a possible 300 points, placing him in the 92nd percentile and qualifying him as an alternate for the national finals.
We are extremely proud of Jameson and all the students who took this test!
