Announce

Conestoga Valley School District issued the following announcement.

It has been announced that Kelly Cartwright, CV's Assistant to the Superintendent for Elementary Education, will serve as the next superintendent at Dover Area School District in Dover, Pa.; her appointment will be approved at the Dover Area School Board’s December 3 meeting.

“After more than 19 years with CV, it is bittersweet to be moving on,” Cartwright said. “I will always value the relationships I built with families and colleagues at CV. The experiences I have had since being hired in 2001 undoubtedly prepared me for this next exciting chapter in my career. I am extremely honored to have been selected to serve as Dover School District’s next Superintendent and I am very much looking forward to getting to know a new set of families, staff and community members.”

Cartwright came to the Conestoga Valley School District in July 2001. She served as the Principal at Brownstown Elementary School from 2001-10 before being named Assistant to the Superintendent for Elementary Education in 2010. As Assistant to the Superintendent, Cartwright oversaw multiple areas of elementary education, including curriculum, early childhood education, grant writing, technology integration, and more. Over the course of her career she also oversaw services and programs for students in all grades within the district, including special education, health and physical education, English language arts, ESL, and gifted education.

Prior to arriving at CV, Cartwright was an Assistant Principal from 1998-2001 at Emory H. Markle Intermediate School in Hanover, Pa. and served as the Dean of Students for one year at South Eastern Middle School in Fawn Grove, Pa.

Prior to embarking on her administrative career, Cartwright spent four years as a classroom teacher at Stewartstown Elementary School in Stewartstown, Pa.

Cartwright earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Ohio University and received her M.S. in School Administration from Western Maryland College. In 2008, she received Ed.D. in School Administration from Widener University.
