CONESTOGA VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT: COVID Notification - Fritz Probable October 16 2020.pdf 1 / 1

Corrrrr

Conestoga Valley School District issued the following announcement.

CV Community -

We have recently learned that a student or staff person attending Fritz Elementary School has been identified as a “probable case” for COVID-19. A probable case is one where the individual is symptomatic and is the close contact of a person who tested positive.

An example would be if my wife tested positive and I came down with COVID-like symptoms, I would be considered a probable case.

Per PDE/DOH and Penn Medicine – LGH guidelines, we treat the probable case just like a positive case.

As such, the individual will not be in school until they have recovered (if test results are positive), or after completing a 14-day quarantine (if test results are negative). We have cleaned and disinfected the school following recommendations from the CDC, we will continue with the regular cleaning and disinfecting procedures that have been in place since the opening of school, and we have worked with the Department of Health to notify everyone who was in close contact with the person.

The individuals who were in close contact will be quarantined at home for 14 days from their last exposure so that they can monitor their health and avoid spreading the illness to others.

While COVID-19 continues to spread in our community and across the country, please keep these important tips in mind:

• Practice physical (or social) distancing and stay at least six (6) feet apart from people outside your household.

• Stay home when you are sick. If you have a cough, fever, shortness of breath, or other symptoms of COVID-19, stay home and contact your healthcare provider.

• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipes.

• Wear a mask or face covering in public spaces, including at school.

Please note that individual health information, including the name of the person who is ill, is confidential to protect patient privacy.
