More than 50 exhibitors are set to participate in a Senior Expo hosted by Senator Scott Martin (R-Lancaster) on August 14 at the Farm and Home Center in Lancaster. The event, open to the public at no cost, will run from 10 a.m. to noon.
Representatives from state, county, and local agencies will be present to share information about various programs and services for older residents. Topics include health and wellness resources, assistive technology options, consumer protection measures, income tax assistance, veterans’ benefits, traffic safety advice, and utility support.
Attendees can access free health screenings and enter drawings for door prizes. Light refreshments will be provided. The American Red Cross is organizing a blood drive during the expo from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., with appointments available by calling Senator Martin’s office or through the organization’s website at https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/drive-results?zipSponsor=Martin.
The Lancaster District Attorney’s Office will facilitate safe disposal of unused prescription medications at the event. Attendees may bring unwanted medicines to deposit them securely at the Lancaster County Drug Task Force table. A detective will oversee this initiative as part of efforts to reduce prescription drug abuse.
A new addition this year is the Hall of Heroes exhibit that honors local military veterans and active-duty service members.
Older community members interested in attending may RSVP online at https://senatorscottmartinpa.com/senior-expo-constituent-reg/, though registration is not mandatory.
