Senator Scott Martin Addresses Road Safety, Education, and Daylight Saving Time in Recent Posts
Senator Scott Martin has recently used his social media platform to address a range of issues including road safety during autumn, educational concerns in Berks County, and the ongoing debate over Daylight Saving Time.
On October 31, 2025, Senator Martin posted about seasonal hazards for drivers: “Autumn means increased deer activity on roads. Deer become more active at dawn and dusk, and if you see one, there are usually more. You can call 1-800-FIX-ROAD to have a dead deer removed if it poses a safety risk.” This advice aligns with longstanding guidance from transportation authorities who note that deer-related accidents tend to spike during the fall months as animals move more frequently across roadways.
Later that day, he expressed gratitude toward local education leaders: “Thanks to all the Berks County Superintendents, CTC directors, and Berks County IU leaders for making the trip to Harrisburg to discuss issues of concern for the education community. The work you do for our kids is deeply appreciated!” Engagements like these between lawmakers and educators are part of ongoing efforts in Pennsylvania to address challenges such as funding disparities and workforce development within public schools.
On November 1, 2025, Senator Martin addressed Daylight Saving Time: “Don’t forget to change the clocks TONIGHT as Daylight Saving Time ends. I’m working to end these twice-yearly time changes to prevent all the negative consequences we see from them, including more accidents, health concerns, and lost productivity.” The movement to eliminate biannual clock changes has gained traction nationwide due to research indicating potential links between time shifts and increased accident rates or adverse health effects.
Senator Scott Martin represents Pennsylvania’s 13th district in the State Senate. His recent posts reflect common seasonal public safety messages as well as ongoing legislative interests related to education policy and time change reforms.
