Senator Scott Martin, a member of the Pennsylvania State Senate, posted a series of messages on his social media account highlighting state and national commemorations as well as local achievements.
On August 7, 2025, Senator Martin recognized National Purple Heart Day. In his post he stated: “The Purple Heart is awarded to military members who were severely wounded or lost their lives serving our country. On National Purple Heart Day, please join me in honoring the brave men and women who sacrificed for our country.” The Purple Heart is a United States military decoration awarded to those wounded or killed while serving, first established by George Washington in 1782.
Later that day, Senator Martin congratulated a local institution: “Congratulations to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania on their groundbreaking ceremony for the new roundhouse exhibit building, which will protect and display six historic steam locomotives. I look forward to seeing the facility once it’s completed!” The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the rich railroad history of the state. The new roundhouse will serve both protective and educational purposes for its collection.
On August 8, 2025, Senator Martin highlighted another Pennsylvania landmark: “Your PA Capitol is not only the seat of state government, it’s also an architectural and artistic treasure to be experienced by citizens from across the commonwealth. You can plan a visit & book a tour of this 119-year-old National Historic Landmark here:” The Pennsylvania State Capitol was completed in 1906 and has been designated as a National Historic Landmark due to its architectural significance.
