Senator Scott Martin, a member of the Pennsylvania State Senate, used his social media platform in August 2025 to highlight local educational initiatives, raise awareness about online crimes affecting youth, and pay tribute to a community leader.

On August 20, 2025, Senator Martin shared information about an educational center in his district. He wrote, “The John Paul II Center in Shillington provides high-quality educational opportunities for students who have special needs. A member of my team recently stopped by to learn more about the center’s great summer learning programs! https://t.co/HHE8KAWULs”.

The following day, Martin addressed the growing threat of online exploitation targeting young people. In a post dated August 21, 2025, he stated: “Online crimes like sextortion are on the rise, and the consequences for young people can be catastrophic. 98% of these crimes go unreported.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) has a CyberTipline to report these crimes at https://t.co/vE2HMhlB78. https://t.co/8hfddSaifF“. According to recent data from law enforcement agencies and child safety organizations, cases of sextortion and other forms of online exploitation have been increasing nationally. Many incidents remain unreported due to stigma or fear among victims.

Later that same day, Senator Martin posted a message honoring a local resident named Lisa. On August 21, 2025 he wrote: “Lisa was so committed to making her community a better place & she led through her actions. She loved her family & was a loyal friend to so many. She will be missed tremendously. Please keep her family, friends and coworkers in your thoughts and prayers.
