Pennsylvania State Senator Scott Martin, who represents Lancaster County and serves as chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, posted several updates on social media in early March 2026 addressing time changes, state reserves, and Pennsylvania’s history.
On March 7, 2026, Martin reminded followers about the upcoming time change and discussed his efforts to end biannual clock adjustments. He stated, “Don’t forget to set your clocks forward one hour before bed tonight. I am working to eliminate these twice-yearly time changes due to the damage they cause to our health, safety and productivity.”
The following day, March 8, Martin commented on Pennsylvania’s fiscal situation: “Just a few short years ago, we were talking about having $14.5 billion dollars in reserve. Now, by the Shapiro Administration’s own figures, we could end the next fiscal year with around $3 billion. The math just doesn’t add up.”
Later that same day, Martin marked Charter Day by recognizing Pennsylvania’s founding principles: “Happy birthday, Pennsylvania! Charter Day recognizes the granting of the PA charter by King Charles II to William Penn, who established these lands as a home for religious freedom and tolerance.”
Martin is known for advocating public safety initiatives and supporting clean water projects as well as events aiding veterans. According to his official website, he has played a role in shaping laws protecting children and victims of domestic violence while seeking measures that enhance quality of life for Pennsylvanians through public safety and environmental stewardship. As chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee—and former leader of both the Senate Education and Local Government Committees—Martin remains active within Pennsylvania’s legislative process.
