The office of Senator Scott Martin (R-Lancaster) will host special office hours for veterans on Tuesday, July 9, from 9 a.m. to noon at his office located at 135 East Main Street, Suite 1-A in Strasburg.

Martin has hosted monthly Veteran Service Officer Days since September to connect more local military heroes to the benefits they earned by serving the country. The district office will welcome a VFW Veteran Service Officer to meet with veterans and their families to answer questions. The service officer can also assist with health care, disability claims, GI bill programs, and other benefits.

Veterans and their families who wish to meet with the service officer are encouraged to schedule a time by contacting Martin’s office at 717-397-1309. Veterans should also bring their DD-214 or Veterans DD-214 for prompt assistance.

Martin noted this is an important time of year to honor veterans and reflect on their service and sacrifices. The nation observed Memorial Day on May 27, and June 6 marked the 80th anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy in World War II. Flag Day and the U.S. Army’s birthday were both celebrated on June 14. June 27 is National PTSD Awareness Day, which recognizes the impact of post-traumatic stress and promotes awareness of its symptoms and treatments.
