House Republican Leader Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster) on Thursday applauded the Senate’s passage of House Bill 73, legislation introduced by Rep. Joe Kerwin (R-Dauphin), who is currently deployed in the Horn of Africa with his Pennsylvania Army National Guard infantry unit.

House Bill 73 aims to create a specialty license plate recognizing those who served in “Operation Inherent Resolve,” the military campaign tasked with defeating Islamic State terrorists in Syria, Iraq, and Libya.

When introducing the bill, Kerwin expressed his intention to honor veterans who served during Operation Inherent Resolve. “While Rep. Kerwin continues to serve his country deployed in combat operations in Africa, I am glad to see the Senate unanimously pass this legislation that furthers his continued legacy of honoring and promoting our active-duty military, veterans and their families,” Cutler said.

House Bill 73 now awaits approval from Gov. Josh Shapiro.
