Senator Scott Martin has officially commenced his third term representing Pennsylvania’s 13th Senatorial District, which includes Lancaster and Berks counties. In a ceremony held in Harrisburg, Martin expressed gratitude for the continued trust placed in him by the community.

“I am humbled by the faith the people of Lancaster and Berks counties have placed in me to continue representing them in Harrisburg,” Martin stated. “We have achieved so much over the past eight years, and I will continue to put our communities first as we work to overcome the challenges we face in the years ahead.”

A lifelong resident of Lancaster County, Martin has established himself as a proponent of fiscal responsibility during his tenure. As Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee and part of the Senate Republican Leadership Team, he has been instrumental in reducing proposed spending increases and shaping state budgets that prioritize education funding while maintaining fiscal discipline.

The approach led by Martin has resulted in credit upgrades for Pennsylvania, saving taxpayers significant amounts on borrowing costs. His legislative achievements include laws promoting education through initiatives like Grow PA and programs enhancing school safety.

Martin has also focused on health issues, notably advocating for pediatric cancer research funding and supporting technology that aids students with prolonged absences from school.

In environmental efforts, he contributed to creating the Clean Streams Fund with substantial state investment aimed at ensuring clean water. He also played a role in amending constitutional powers related to emergency declarations.

Looking ahead, Martin aims to foster job creation, balanced budgets, and educational reforms. “I am proud of all we have accomplished during my time in the Senate,” he remarked. “We need a sustainable and responsible state budget… We need to promote educational opportunities.”

Re-elected as Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Martin will also serve on other committees including Chesapeake Bay Commission and Athletic Oversight Committee.
