Rep. Bryan Cutler has announced a significant financial boost for the Lancaster County Conservation District. The district will receive a $5.9 million grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s 2025 Countywide Action Plan (CAP) Implementation Grants.

This grant is part of a larger $24 million funding initiative aimed at reducing pollution and restoring waterways within the Chesapeake Bay watershed across Pennsylvania.

“This is fantastic news for the people of Lancaster County,” stated Cutler. “This funding is part of a process we started several budgets ago to help clean up and protect the Chesapeake Bay Watershed in Pennsylvania and this represents a major investment into Lancaster County’s efforts to protect our wildlife.”

The latest round of CAP Implementation Grants attracted applications for 205 projects, which are expected to be completed within 12-18 months. These projects aim to significantly reduce environmental pollutants, including an estimated reduction of nearly 110,000 pounds per year of nitrogen, 42,150 pounds per year of phosphorus, and 11.8 million pounds per year of sediment.
