A 39-acre farm in Little Britain and Fulton townships, owned by James and Sandra Sensenig, has been officially preserved, according to an announcement from Rep. Bryan Cutler (R-Peach Bottom). The preservation is part of a broader initiative by the State Agriculture Land Preservation Board, which recently voted to protect 2,079 acres on 24 farms in 14 counties throughout Pennsylvania from future residential or commercial development.
With the addition of the Sensenig farm, Pennsylvania’s Farmland Preservation Program has now safeguarded a total of 6,621 farms and 658,681 acres across the state from future development.
Rep. Cutler commented on the decision: “This is great news for the people of Fulton and Little Britain townships. By preserving this farmland, this protects open space in the 100th District and preserves the beauty our community is known for.”
Funding for this preservation effort will come from both state and local sources, with $88,166 provided by the state and $84,086 contributed by the townships.
