Rep. Bryan Cutler has announced that two projects in Pennsylvania’s 100th District will receive funding from the state’s Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Watershed Protection Program.

Strasburg Borough has been allocated $50,000 for the second phase of the Eshelman Run Stream restoration project. This initiative aims to stabilize approximately 970 linear feet of the stream through site grading, erosion and sediment control, and landscaping. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to implement best management practices for comprehensive stormwater management.

Additionally, the Stroud Water Research Center in Paradise Township will receive $100,000 to enhance its water quality monitoring activities. The project involves evaluating physicochemical and biological conditions at three stream sites—two within a treatment watershed and one at a control site. The center plans to install water quality sensors, collect water samples biweekly, and assess stream health following significant weather events.

“This is great news for the 100th District,” said Cutler. “Both projects in question will help preserve our waterways across our communities and makes sure our water is safe. I know this funding will be put to good use.”

The Watershed Restoration and Protection Program (WRPP) seeks to restore sections of streams impaired by nonpoint source polluted runoff. The ultimate goal is to remove these streams from the Department of Environmental Protection’s Impaired Waters list.
