Cost of college at Millersville University of Pennsylvania remained steady for all students in 2022-23 school year

For the 2022-23 school year, in-state tuition at Millersville University of Pennsylvania did not change, based on the latest figures available, according to the latest disclosure from the National Center for Education Statistics.

Pennsylvania residents paid $12,262 to attend the public four-year university this year, an increase of $6 from the $12,256 charged in the 2021-22 academic year.

Non-resident students were charged $22,232 for the 2022-23 year, which is 81.3% higher than the in-state rate and represents a $6 rise from the $22,226 fee in 2021-22.

Approximately 88% of the undergraduate student body at the university are Pennsylvania residents, while about 10% come from other states and 2% are international students.

Data indicates that 96% of full-time undergraduates who enrolled in 2022-23 received some form of financial aid. In total, 1,036 students were awarded grants or scholarships amounting to $6.4 million, and 753 students secured loans exceeding $7.2 million.

Across the entire undergraduate population, 3,639 students benefited from grants or scholarships totaling $23.6 million. Additionally, 3,052 students borrowed a combined total of $19 million in federal student loans.

Undergraduate education costs have seen a significant increase over the past few decades. Data shows a 169% rise in the average total cost, including tuition, fees, room, and board, between 1980 and 2020.

According to a 2023 College Board report, in-state students at public universities paid an average of $11,260, while out-of-state students paid $29,150 in the 2023-24 academic year.

Meanwhile, student loan debt has steadily increased over the last 30 years, reaching $1.75 trillion in 2024, averaging a total of $28,950 per borrower. Federal loans make up 92% of the debt, with over half of students at both public and private four-year colleges graduating with student loans.
